(Not) flying during pandemic times

I have been toying with the thought of going back to Shanghai now when they have opened up their borders again for people like me and my family, holders of residence permits. All of the potential flight numbers are flying around in my head, Finnair, Lufthansa, British Airways, KLM, Xiamen Airlines or Junyao. Finally found a flight for a decent price and reasonable duration, then boom, it is cancelled two days before scheduled take-off.

It is a nightmare. Go through all of the steps, making sure we got the correct papers in our passports, going through the dreaded PCR COVID19 test, supplying it to the Chinese embassy to get the health certificate. Money flying. But in the end no airplane is flying.

I can't wait for life to go back to normal. I am tired of this limbo situation. And it seems very difficult for the kids to accept Sweden and the very different life style here compared to Shanghai. It is obviously not that easy for me either but I suppose that's the difference between a kid an adult. An adult just has to fucking accept things and move on. I am trying to do it but honestly, I also can admit that I like the life in big city Shanghai more than the life in countryside Sweden.
